OUR PHOTO GALLERY ETC ARE NOT WORKING - AUG 2006
When I found this URL was available I had great plans for a site that would be useful to beginners like us. But these plans are on hold for now and may flower one day when I am no longer a self employed masochist.
In the meantime, it is a place to share our garden, our experiences and knowledge gained - with family and friends.
I am Tony, my partner in our journey of discovery with Australian native plants is Jannene. We have been married for 35 plus years and amazingly we have found that whatever new interest comes into our lives it has been shared passionately by both of us.
But when viewing our site and our garden you also need to understand that:
- we are not botanists - professional or amateur!
- trained landscapers
- we cannot pronounce most botanical names
- nor remember most of them - we are not into just growing local providence plants
- there is no focus on colour co-ordination or flowering times
- we are avid plant sale browsers and collectors which means we often buy plants then have to find somewhere to plant them!
- our focus is on gardening in Sydney NSW Australia, so plant sources etc are what we use locally *
I could go on - but I just want you to know that if you are just starting out with an Australian native plant garden that we were just like you only a few years ago and we are still learning and experiencing new highs and lows as our garden grows and seasons come and go.
If you are an 'expert' and want to criticise us for not knowing a botanical name, our techniques, growing plants from outside our locale etc - please be compassionate in your criticism or maybe just go and do some pruning!
We hope you enjoy this site, maybe find something useful and have fun growing your own Australian native plants.
